I came across Clear Day cables through Audiogon and various positive reviews on the typical Audio forums. I had recently had the full Magnestand mods completed on my MMGs and they sound fantastic. However, I was looking for a touch more air and sparkle in the top end without compromising any of the warmth and sweetness in my system and figured that Paul's silver solid core speaker cables might be the answer.

I emailed Paul asking for his recommendations on which of his various cables would work for my system (Bryston BDA-1 DAC, Krell 400xi integrated, Magnestand MMGs, Signal Cable wiring), and received a prompt response with an offer to demo the shotgun and double shotgun cables. Along the way, he also offered a demo of the Hologram interconnects.

At all times, Paul was courteous and a true gentleman to deal with, and at no time was there any sales pressure. Paul explicitly mentioned several times that whether the cables work will depend on system synergy so the best way is to simply try the cables to see if I liked them.

The cables arrived promptly. The build quality of the speaker cables are excellent, and because they are thin and relatively flexible cables, connecting them to my gear was so simple and it was a refreshing change from having to wrestle with garden hose like cables that I had previously tried.

In terms of how the cables sound, they gave me what I was after. All the cables have great extensions at both ends, but compared to my current system, imparted a bit more transparency and air without making the overall sound too lean. In fact, the cables that I liked the best were the shotguns, but I could have happily lived with either the double shotguns or the Holograms.

I haven't tried any truly expensive cables so can't provide any comparisons in that regard. All I can say is that in my system, these cables are simply great, and they don't cost an arm and a leg. Combined with Paul's professionalism and no-pressure demo, it's simply a no brainer to give theseexcellent cables a try.
